Drug Testing Services

Drug testing can be performed for a variety of reasons - pre-employment, court ordered, reasonable suspicion, by parents for children, and more. Testing is conducted when observable signs and symptoms of drug use are documented. Teen drug testing can be ordered by parents who suspect their kids are using drugs or it can be used as a preventative measure, proven to be a deterrent for teens.

At Modern Medicine, we perform drug tests using urine, blood, nails or hair. Two tests are conducted to ensure accuracy - the initial test and the confirmation test. The initial screen is an instant test, completed on one sample. This test alone is not always 100% accurate and there is a possibility of a false positive. If the initial test comes back positive (Non-Negative), a second confirmatory test is conducted. The confirmation screen is done by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). It is highly accurate and provides specificity to help rule out any false positives from the initial screen. For a test result to be reported as positive, the initial screen and confirmation test results must agree.

80 Hour Test for Alcohol: EtG Test

Yes, there really is an 80 hour test for alcohol. It is a urine screening procedure that employs a substance called Ethyl glucuronide (EtG).

"EtG: A Strong Indicator of Alcohol Consumption"

The detection of alcohol in the urine typically employs Ethyl glucuronide (EtG), a direct metabolite of ethanol alcohol. The presence of EtG in the urine is used to detect recent alcohol consumption, even after the ethanol alcohol is no longer detectable by other methods.

As a consequence, the existence of EtG in the urine is an authoritative indicator that alcohol has been ingested.
Traditional laboratory practices usually measure the amount of alcohol present in the body.

Depending on the amount of alcohol has been consumed, the traditional methodology typically reveals alcohol consumption that has taken place within the past few hours.
The presence of EtG in the urine, alternatively, demonstrates that ethanol alcohol was ingested within the past 3 or 4 days, or roughly 80 hours after the ethanol alcohol has been metabolized by the body. The Urine EtG test can be ordered with our without drug panel.

80 Hour Test for Alcohol: Conclusion:

It is this 80-hour period of time that has given this alcohol test the following name: the 80 hour test for alcohol.

As a result of the above facts, it can be determined that a urine alcohol test employing EtG is a more accurate indicator of the recent consumption of alcohol as opposed to simply measuring for the existence of ethanol alcohol.

Hair Drug Testing

Hair Drug Testing is one of the most trusted methods of drug detection today and is used by law enforcement officials, organizations and parents alike. You will receive results within 3 business days.

At Modern Medicine, we use a 5-Panel Drug Screen test, which tests for the following:

Urine Drug Testing

Urine testing is one of the most common screening methods used today. It is an accurate and reliable way to detect casual drug use that has occurred within the past 72 hours. The accuracy of a urine drug test is dependent on how the testing is done. Drug testing is extremely accurate and reliable when all aspects of the testing process are done properly. It is important not to notify the person of a urine test too far in advance. Usually a limit of 24 hours is acceptable to detect most drugs.

Teen Drug Testing

Teen drug use is on the rise and powerful drugs are more accessible to teens then ever before. Kids don't always make the right decisions, and the wrong decision with drugs can lead to addiction and even permanent brain damage. The use of illegal drugs is increasing, especially among young teens. The average age of first marijuana use is 14 and alcohol use can start before age 12. The use of marijuana and alcohol in high school has become common.
